Chikkamagaluru: VHP leader Praveen Khandya arrested in 2011 case

Chikkamagaluru, Jan 2 : The Chikkamagaluru Town police have arrested Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Khandya in connection with a case that was registered against him in 2011.

The arrest was made on Saturday, December 31. The said case was registered against Praveen Khandya for obstructing police personnel in the execution of their duty during the Dattamala Abhiyana in 2011.

Khandya is also the main suspect in the suicide of DySP Kallappa Handibag and kidnap of businessman Tejas Gowda. He had recently obtained anticipatory bail from the State High Court. Before that he was absconding for 5 months.

The police arrested Khandya when he visited his lawyer at the district sessions court premises here.

The court has remanded Khandya in judicial custody till Monday, January 2. The police had earlier already arrested five people in this case.
