Mangaluru, Jan 2: The District Youth Congress staged a protest near DC's office here on Monday January 2, condemning the controversial remarks made by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who warned that if the culprits behind the murder of Karthik Raj in Asaigoli were not arrested within the next 10 days, 'Dakshina Kannada district would be set on fire'.

Addressing the protestors, president of District Youth Congress Mithun Rai said, "The entire country and the state were shell shocked by the controversial statement made by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, as he tried to disturb the peace and harmony of the district with his provocative speech. It is nothing but a political gimmick.

"Nalin Kumar Kateel also stood against Netravati diversion project for the purpose of political mileage, but on the other hand he (Nalin) also warned that Dakshina Kannada district would be set on fire, which clearly shows that BJP is meant to deliver provocative speeches aimed at disturbing peace and harmony of the district," he said.

Mithun Rai also said that a complaint has been lodged by the Ullal block Congress against Nalin Kumar Kateel in Konaje police station. He demanded to know why Kateel had not raised his voice against the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga.

Referring to Kateel's statement that 'terrorists from Kerala are carrying out such crimes as this is a border area', Mithun Rai said, "If he knew that terrorists from Kerala were committing crimes here, why did he not register any complaint or take action?

"Prior to the election PM Narendra Modi promised to bring back black money and credited 15 lakh to each individual and later Amit Shah clarifies that it was done for political gimmik. In the name of surgical strike PM Modi has became the direct responsible for the death of armed soldiers”. Even after 52 days of demonatizing high currency notes, country not yet resumed to normalcy which claimed over 70 deaths till date”.

Mangaluru: Congress files complaint against Nalin, says it will 'douse fire set by MP'

Mangaluru, Jan 2: A day after MP Nalin Kumar Kateel made controversial remarks of 'setting DK on fire' if the culprits behind the murder of Karthik Raj were not arrested within 10 days, the Ullal block Congress on Tuesday January 2 filed a complaint against the MP in Konaje police station.

Scores of Congress members and supporters gathered at Konaje police station here to condemn Nalin Kateel's statement.

Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai said, "People representatives should aspire and work for peace. But Nalin Kumar Kateel surprisingly provokes people to disrupt peace. BJP is using its old tactic by inciting violence just before elections. We will never let them to succeed in this evil act. If Nalin Kumar Kateel sets Dakshina Kannada on fire, Congress will take up the job of dousing it."

Karthik Raj, son of former Mangaluru taluk panchayat president Umesh Ganiga, had passed away on October 23, 2016 after he was attacked by unknown assailants a day earlier.

Santhosh Kumar Shetty, the block Congress president from Ullal, has complained to the circle inspector at Konaje police station that "Nalin Kumar Kateel, who is a member of Parliament, has greater responsibility of protecting the lives of people. But he has threatened that he would set the district on fire. This has created panic situation in the area. I request you take stern action against Nalin as per the law for his provocative remarks."

Santhosh Kumar Shetty after lodging the complaint said, “We have already submitted petitions to the district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and minister U T Khader to request the government to initiate CID investigation relating to Karthik Raj murder case. When the process in on, Nalin should not have resorted to politics and bad statement. “

Youth Congress will also hold a protest against Nalin Kateel on Tuesday evening, Mithun Rai informed.

Many Congress leaders from Konaje and Ullal with party workers were present at the police station.

Mithun Rai, better you change the party, or you will never be in politics. Congis will be decimated from Karnataka forever. So better for you to think instead of joining drama teams of congis.

People are giving Hype to Nalin Kumar, otherwise who cares him. Now supporters are mobilizing to other side also. No one will be going to Set Fire to DK district.

But still we all must agree that the Mangalore South Constituency facing some law and order problem from the fundamentalists of both side. It should be treated properly. Protests are creating more problems and will not give any solution at least for communal issues.

Mithun is doing all these for publicity. Our efficient MLA Mr. Khader must be active on his constituency for maintaining the law and order.

It appears like the only job these days for the congress party is to find faults with opponent party BJP and condemn and shed crocodile tears. The Law and Order situation in the state is very weak. Home Minister has failed in controlling police department where many cases were reported of harassing junior level officials by the senior officers including sexual harassment. The down fall of congress in Karnataka is on the cards.

There is no scarcity for loose talkers and hate mongers in BJP-Sangha Parivar. Police cannot take drastic action against them because our law is very weak. There is no harsh punishments mentioned in Indian Penal codes.
