Kuwait: Abdul Jabbar Gurpur re-elected president of KKMA Karnataka branch

Salmiya (Kuwait), Jan 3: Karnataka branch of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), the largest charitable organization of Indian expatriates in Kuwait has re-elected Abdul Jabbar as the president for the next two-year term (2017 – 2018) in the general body meeting recently held at SIMS auditorium, Salmiya, under the supervision of election officers Nawaz Kadiri and Basheer Mangav assisted by B M Iqbal.

The general body meeting commenced with a beautiful recitation of the Quran by Irfan Bhatkal.

Branch senior leader and advisor Abdul Hameed Mulky delivered the welcome address and highlighted the various charitable achievements and activities of KKMA such as Family Benefit Schemes (FBS), Educational Scholarship Programme (ESP), Medical Assistance Programme (MAP) and Housing Improvement Programme (HIP) etc.

KKMA patron Sagheer Trikaripur in his inaugural address applauded the contributions of Karnataka branch in community service and social welfare activities. He highlighted that KKMA is for aid, development and unity and said, "To achieve an extraordinary goal the person does not have to be extraordinarily gifted. Success is available to anyone, poor or rich, who will learn a few simple principles and consistently put them into practice." He said that the team work of KKMA members has helped in achieving the membership target of 15,000 and the new target for the membership will be 30,000.

Sagheer Trikaripur elaborated a few things about KKMA Team Magnet. The objective of the Magnet is to visit the poor patients admitted in various hospitals in Kuwait and provide them with financial as well as moral support in their needs. This programme has a dedicated team who will also assist in the process of documentation and transfer of human remains to their respective destination irrespective of caste or religion.

Abdul Jabbar in his presidential address appreciated the relentless efforts done by KKMA Karnataka Team and thanked them for their selfless services rendered in charitable activities. He inspired the audience requesting them to participate and support the ongoing KKMA social service activities. He elaborated on some of the KKMA social contributions in other fields such as student awards, scholarships for higher studies, self-employment schemes, drinking water facilities, civil service educational support, early detection centers for heart diseases, kidney dialysis centers, medical care camps, religious trainings, picnic for the families, Model Pravasi Projects (MPP) and career training workshops.

An annual report was presented by Abdul Latheef detailing two years activities of the branch committee. The comprehensive finance report was prepared by Aboobakar Thumbe and the Power Point presentation of the same and KKMA achievements was done by Karnataka branch senior leader and advisor S M Basheer.

KKMA central and branch leaders Nawaz Kadiri, Basheer Mangav, Zamzam Rasheed, Basheer Udiyoor and Saheed Labba graced the occasion. Zamzam Rasheed and Basheer Udiyoor delivered the felicitation address.

B M Iqbal introduced the details of the three newly-formed zones of KKMA Karnataka branch, namely Farwaniya, Kuwait City and Fahaheel.

The programme was convened by Fayaz Sheikh and the meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by Yusuf Muniyam.

The programme was attended by a large number of members and guests and dinner was served at the end.
