Bengaluru: Modi’s oratory skills cannot solve people's misery - Deve Gowda

Daijiworld Media Network-Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jan 5: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a good orator. But he cannot solve misery of people by his oratory skills,” former prime minister and JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda said on Wednesday here.

Gowda was speaking to reporters referring to the problems faced by common people after demonetisation came into effect.

“Centre’s failure to implement demonetisation scheme properly has caused a lot of inconvenience to people. The Reserve Bank of India has issued more than 60 circulars repeatedly modifying rules related to the scheme. People are struggling to withdraw their own money from banks even 50 days after the scheme was announced. This shows that the government has failed to implement the scheme,” he added.

“I had initially welcomed the scheme. But it has now been proved that there was no planning on the part of the government for implementation. I am disappointed with Modi’s December 31 address to the nation,” Gowda said.

Gowda also charged the central government with misusing the CBI and suggested TMC leader Mamata Banerjee to take legal recourse over the arrest of her party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay.

Please understand that we should be greatful to the PM for taking hard decisions and not shying away from them for the sake of Indias future. Moving to digital payments is only way forward so that all transactions are recorded and slowly in future made compulsory. For example when we dine in a hotel and pay the bill, only very few take back the bill and show it in their accounts. The rest of the bills are torn by the hoteliers and very low turnover is shown thereby avoiding tax, the money generated thus becoming black money which will be subsequently invested in gold and real estate. The spokespersons of opposition parties are time and again misinforming the general public that 96% of money has been deposited and demonetizatoon was a wasteful exercise. All taxpayers who know the system will understand that while filing returns each year they will have to the source of money deposited in their account to IT department. Of course it is a mammoth task of catching those who do not file returns and have deposited large sums. Whatever be our political affiliations wr must support hard decisions taken by govt for benefit of country whereas it is the duty of opposition to oppose in a democracy.

Nobody can beat Modi in gold covered con artistry. Master of attractive promises one after other without fulfilling anything promised, with an abundant supply of promises for every speech.

very rightly said, and this is with every politician including you.
Sometimes it feels that we were better off under British rule than these politicians.

look at Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Bahrain and United States to name a few.
