Suicide pact at Kokkada: Four of Endosulfan-affected family end lives, one goes missing

Beltangady, Jan 5: In a tragic incident reported at Kokkada here on Thursday January 5, four persons of an Endosulfan-affected family committed suicide.

The deceased have been identified as Babu Gowda (62), Gangamma (55) and their sons Sadananda (32) and Nityananda (30).

Sources said that the couple's third son Dayananda has gone missing. 

Bodies of three among the four were found in a pond, while that of Nityananda was found in another pond nearby.

Sources said that as the family was dejected as two of the sons were suffering from the effects of Endosulfan, and hence they decided to end their lives together.

Dharmasthala police have registered a case.
