Mangaluru: Thick mist covers city skies, flights delayed

Mangaluru, Jan 6: Thick mist has been covering city for the past few days and as a result, some flights to and from city have been delayed for the last two days.

Jet Airways flight from Dubai which was supposed to arrive at 8.15 am on Thursday reached at 12.45 pm with more than 4 hours delay. Jet Airways flight from Mumbai landed at 1.45 pm against its scheduled arrival time at 10.15 am. Also Jet Airways flight from Bengaluru which was scheduled at 7.30 am could land at only 9.30 am, as per sources at the airport.

Jet Airways flight bound for Dubai on Wednesday at 11 pm had departed at 3.30am on Thursday.

Increased mist appearance in Mumbai and New Delhi also has resulted in flight delays from and to Mangaluru.

Dakshina Kannada has been covered with more mist compared to last two months. It is not clear as to how long the thick mist especially in the mornings will remain. Kotekar, Mudipu, Ullal and Thokkottu areas have seen more mist than other areas of the district.
