Mangaluru: Assault on ‘informer’ of cattle trafficking, 3 convicted

Mangaluru, Jan 7: First additional and sessions court here on Friday January 6, has convicted three persons for assaulting a person on the suspicion of providing information to police on cattle trafficking activities.

Surendra Bhandary (36) from Amtadi, Prashanth (33) from Badaje and Rajneesh (27) from Podambettu, are the convicted persons. The sentence will be pronounced soon, the court said.

Ramanatha from Golitthabettu is the person who was assaulted by the convicted persons.

On 30 December 2012, Ramanatha was abused and assaulted badly by the trio at a lodge in B C Road. A case was registered at Bantwal police station and Inspector Anil S Kulkarni investigated the matter and filed charge sheet.

Raju Poojary Bannady was the public prosecutor.
