Bengaluru: Molestation- Mate Mahadevi finds fault with women

‘Dress code like in Arab countries should be introduced’

Daijiworld Media Network- Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jan 8: “There has been an increase in sexual assaults against women as they roam in the night freely,” said president of Basava Dharma Peetha and known religious leader Mate Mahadevi on Saturday January 7, here.

Mate Mahadevi was reacting to the molestation of girls during the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Bengaluru.

“It is not right on the part of girls to behave provocatively wearing skimpy dresses on the pretext of New Year’s Eve celebrations. Such conduct is an invitation to sexual perverts,” she added.

Mate Mahadevi opined that in order to prevent such molestation instances in future, girls should cover themselves up and a dress code should be introduced for them in colleges. “Women are partly responsible for rapes against them and so is society. Porn movies too play a role. Therefore, a dress code on the lines of one in Arab countries should be introduced for women in India.” she said.

What Mate Mahadevi says ,I cant believe. As a woman she says so,and many male commentators do support her.cant believe.According to her when a woman dresses provocatively,a man must assault ,or rape her?It is in womans nature to attract the opposit gender, well that doesnt mean he should rape her. We see mostly who does this is men with less education, some alcoholics,in one word, men who roamabout in streets.women who dress provokatively are everywhere in whole world ,but they are not raped everywhere.Best is our Govt.should take strict action and punish them when such rapes are taken place.Take for example,in Rajasthan or North India ,girls from poor familys, lower cast ones are dragged from house ,raped and killed, hanged on trees, what says Mataji? Are they too dress according to you provokative? There women are treated as if their foot ware.Dont blame women always, you should respect them first ,and men too.In Arab countrys ,they pay less respect to women.

I have a feeling that you have commented after reading the Brother-in-law faked molestation, molested his wife's sister so that they both can marry.

Was dress style a factor here? No, she was dressed head-to-toe!

Wow, Why don't you first start the dress code in your family. Also see that your wife/daughter/sister/mother don't dress in saree because it is very revealing (you can see the back, stomach, waist-if worn low, it shows the figure). Men fantasize when they see a woman whether she is half clad or full clad. Sick mentality.

Ahmed it's not that only the expatriates are involved in crimes rather only the expatriates are punished while the local criminals are let free. The law is biased towards the locals while most of the expats who don't even know what is happening in the court due to language problem, get blamed and punished for the crimes of the locals. A study by Saudi-based organization has also revealed that the most of the expats prisoners locked up in Saudi prisoners are innocent and are paying price because the locals trapped them. Visit Saudi prisons and you will get to listen heart-wrenching and terrible, sad stories of expats who are languishing there for years without having any access to lawyers, law and justice system. Drivers who are forced to break signals and radars by their Saudi bosses are left high and dry when met with accident and languish without being able to pay the 'blood money'.
I work for a law firm myself that has branch in KSA and I have first-hand info and experience of dealing in such cases. Hence don't try to justify something about which you don't have proper information. The levels of corruption, the under-the-table business is widely prevalent but doesn't and cannot get reported in media. It's the Saudi nationals who molest, exploit the housemaids sexually. Their brutality is known all across and that's why the Indonesian govt, Philippine govt etc had time and again banned employing their nationals as housemaids in Saudi. If an eye for an eye and ear for an ear is the solution for crimes, then the whole world would be blind and deaf soon.

Dress, kind of dress, style of dressing so and so forth list keeps going. When you look at the girl with much of the exposure obviously opposite gender will react owing to human nature. It all depends on the kind of reaction. Onlooker admires the appearance and if he is decent he says women’s modesty shouldn’t be harmed. Interestingly, when we look at the male gender we are not getting provoked. The very fact that female gender has specific qualities for attracting opposite.

Watching at the male body is not provocative and considering this fact in mind, our sister’s need to be considerate while dressing. Alternatively, covering the head and cladding with loose dress may prove to be safe. Finally, strict enforcement of law for caring the women which is proven to be successful in Middle East has to be implemented.

Mata Mahadevi and the likes of Sakshi Maharaj should concentrate on why people commit suicide, why unborn child's life is terminated upon knowing its a girl or why there is not peace and harmony within families than commenting unrelated issues.

When such problems are stabilised, automatically people will stop molesting, raping, abducting or human trafficking - irrelevant of whether a man/woman dresses in India style or Western, revealing or concealing.

While reading this, a film dialogue comes o my mind. "If a goat by itself goes and dances in front of butcher's house, who can save it ?"
Present day girls are not goats and they have gone to New Year celebration and not for bhajans or retreat in the church. The butchers here are to be tamed, not girls.

Ahmed the so called 'punishment code' of Arabs or 'Sharia' is in practice in Saudi Arabia for over 1000 years. Yet every year at least a 1000 people are uted, a thousand more are mutilated, relieved off their limbs etc. This means even after 1000 years of 'punishment code' being in vogue, crime rate has not come down in Saudi. In fact Saudi has one of the highest crime rates in the entire Middle East despite such 'punishment code' as per a recent study done by a leading Law firm of the region. My colleagues visiting Saudi for Umrah or any other purpose avoid travelling after dusk. In their own words, they even fear parking car somewhere along the road and going out just to bring snacks, because they cannot guarantee the safety of women. Our office manager in Oman who is an Omani national himself, travels to our head office here by car when needed. But always makes it certain that while returning he either crosses into UAE from Saudi or is still in Qatar before the night falls because there are highway thieves who waylay the passengers and loot them. The housemaids working in the houses of Saudi nationals have horrible tales of sexual harassment and exploitation to tell. But all this doesn't get reported due to controlled media. If media gets rights to report on their own, I am sure, the sexual harassment, molestation and exploitation stories from the region of 'strict punishment code' would frighten the entire world. So don't advocate something which has failed in the country where it was started and is in vogue.

Sirji, Do you know who is involved in crimes there? If GCC stops inviting expatriates, then all there crimes will reduce.

Chad, Ethopians, Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistanis, Philiphinos and the rest are more involved in crime there than the native inhabitants.

Yes, agree with the horrible tale of house maids, but do you think those done such act and get caught or scot free, like how you see in our country India???

You cannot compare an Ant size crime with a Elephant in our country.

May be one get looted or not, it always safe and wise to not travel at late night in deserted areas. Its a golden rule followed since ages.

The problem is with law of the land and not their dress. Girls wears very short and sexy dresses in Dubai and roam freely on the streets even in the mid night but no one dare to molested or raped them. Because of law is very strict and culprits will be punished harshly within 3 to 6 months after committing the crime. But Indian judiciary system is very slow and too much loopholes, that's why crimes against women is increasing in our country.

Even properly dresses woman are not safe when we have human brutes roaming around. The best solution is not the dress code of Arabs. But,the punishment code of Arabs. This would drastically bring all the crime rates down.

Dressing is important also behaving also important. Girls need the freedom the same ways as boys as well. Rape culture required a code rather girls required a dress code. I Beleive this lady in the photo said things vice versa. Evan dress cover head to toe but rape culture in place doesn't matter how you dress these thugs will rape. Good law and order without bias or corruption will stop such incidents. In western nations ladies dress the ways they like but rapes are not common here bcze law is strong enough to prevent such incidence. Please do your best to educate your boys and show them ladies are not sex toys but their like mothers or sisters or aunties or holy person Like you etc. India is a gteat nation but recent days rapes are become common. Why blames ladies when law is not doing enough to protect them.

What India needs is aggressive teaching of the street-morals by the mothers to the sons. But mothers hardly ever confront their sons on issues of morality.

If the society has to be improved, the mothers must take a leading role in bringing up their sons in an appropriate way (considering that fathers are too busy with their work-life/business).
