Karwar: Police form two teams to arrest MP Ananthkumar Hegde

Daijiworld Media Network- Karwar (RJP)

Karwar, Jan 8: Police have formed two teams to arrest Uttara Kannada Member of Parliament Ananthkumar Hegde, for assaulting doctors on duty in a private hospital on January 3.

The police on Thursday had registered a Suo Moto case against Hegde and BJP district unit secretary Krishna Esale on the charge of assaulting doctors under the provisions of the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Medical Service Personnel and Damage to Property In Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009, and Indian Penal Code sections 34, 341, 323 and 504.

Deputy Superintendent of police Nagesh Shetty said that police were collecting information about the whereabouts of Ananthkumar Hegde.

Meanwhile private doctors in Uttara Kannada district suspended their services for three hours on Saturday as a mark of protest against the assault on doctors by Ananthkumar Hegde.

The police is acting as if accused is absconding across the border and special team is formed for 'surgical strike' to arrest.

Irony of Indian democracy is,despite criminal charges one can contest an election any number of time, whereas common man don't even had privilege of voting rights.

Negligence is decided by courts of law. If a doctor is negligent he will be punished according to the law. If doctors are assaulted then seriously ill patients will be denied crtical care as most qualified and skilled doctors would prefer subspecialties with less exposure to crtically ill patients. And doctors and hospitals will resort to safe practise where they refer out patients at the slightest sign of trouble. Gone will be the days when doctors took risk to rescue somebody. Will be bad for everybody.

Ashamed to have such law makers. How will he react if he is slapped because he has not delivered to our expectation ? Put him behind bar and same treatment that's done to other citizen.
Medical fraternity should refuse medical facility to this man and his family when required, unless he apologise publicly.

It's really an irony that India's political system allows even criminal/criminal minded politicians to get elected and flourish with their criminal activities/arrogant behaviour.

It is rather late for India, almost 70 years after gaining independence, to undertake a clean-up of it's flawed electoral process, but, just as demonetisation was undertaken to eradicate black money, terrorism, etc., electoral reforms are the only alternative to unshackle India from black (unworthy) politicians/political terrorism. Jai Karnataka! Jai Bharat!

I just wonder what these politicians think of themselves. Does this MP think that just because the patient is his mother, she was made to wait? I’m sure his mother must have gotten special attention from the doctors just because she is the mother of this unruly MP. For doctors all patients are equal. Still the rich and influential persons get special treatment everywhere they go. However, these people expect much more, more than one can afford to give them. These politicians are elected by our people with an expectation from them to solve our issues but hardly do they think of the people who sent them to their office. He lives in Karnataka, not in UP or Bihar where jungle-raj is very common, and the people of Karnataka cannot tolerate this type of misbehavior from our politicians. The Medical Association should see to that they would fight until the victims get justice.

    Thomas Pascal Andrade,

Welcome to our democracy, where people with multiple cases registered against them contest for election and win.

Who is to be blamed for this? It is we who elect such people into office. It does not matter if the person contesting election is qualified or not, weather he is a decent human being or not.... these things simply doesnt matter. after we think why we have such a breakdown in law and order through out the country. Can a thug improve the standard of living of the people? Can a thug think for a betterment of the society? what can we expect out of a thug?

A democracy can be only be as good as its people. And if you think that our democracy is flawed .... thats because we deserve it.

    Good comments.

Explains the reality of democracy in India and mind set of elected people. Each one of us have responsibility to identify the cause for the situation that we are in and see how we can improve the democracy and associated values to solve people’s issues by our individual contributions and efforts.

Elections come only once in five years, there should be accountability and ownership by elected people on both success and failures by those who govern and spend the people’s money.

It is a BIG JOKE we see on each anniversary of ruling with long list of achievements by those who govern and fake promises.

People should be held accountable and cause for failures should be highlighted.

Being BLIND party follower is one of the many causes and let us work to strengthen democracy.

This is a step in the right direction. Law is the same for all irrespective of any position an individual may hold. If the M.P. is guilty he should by all means be booked.

We know many arrest warrants are pending against Tagodia, and every time the police return saying Tagodia is not found in his house ... Hope the same story will not be repeated ....
The FIR list should become bigger with Shakshi, Hegde, Nalini ....

Now victim doctors should not succumb to pressure and compromise. Criminal politician should be sent to jail for few weeks or month at least... That will send a fantastic message to all such arrogant politicians!! Bail in few hours should be denied by court.

Jossey Baab probably meant to state that being a BJP party based MP, Hegde will follow the law and surrender to police soon.

Langoo in Washington DC, Shankar Anna in Mangalore and Girishkk in Dubai are loosing their mind and sleep worrying about Jossey Baab.

There is no qualm about "BJP is a decent Party", we all know that and hopefully BJP with a DEMOCARTIC leadership will do better governance than last 30 months, which was not able to deliver up to now 2014 election promises. This is due to some of corrupt, ideology based laws, and uneducated MP Maharaja's and Feku people.

Watch and monitor the amount of demonetized new notes spending and listen to long Bashans in five states planned to have elections. Generally, small percent of spending is reported to EC and always below the 20 - 24 lakh limit (based on the state) for each candidate.

Long live BJP and prove what HM stated this week after SC order that no religion or caste is used in BJP party for ruling and Governance to People of India. Let us send HM copies of hate speeches and statements from his party people made in next two months during State elections. This is to remind him and follow his own words.
