Kundapur, Jan 10: The private vehicle in which Kodagu district superintendent of police (SP), Rajendra Prasad, was travelling, got involved with a serial road accident at Jaladi near Tallur near here on national highway 66 on Monday January 9. While the driver of the SP's car sustained some injuries, the SP escaped with minor nicks and cuts, it is learnt.

Prasad, who in the past had worked as SP of Udupi district, was travelling towards Bhatkal from the direction of Mangaluru in his XUV vehicle. As per information, the driver of his vehicle was over speeding.

As per reports, the SP was moving to Murudeshwar. When the driver of his vehicle was trying to overtake a 'Toofan' vehicle moving ahead, his vehicle swerved to the left and brushed against a 'Toofan' vehicle and then hit a private bus coming from opposite direction, it is gathered.

The injured driver was treated in a private hospital.

A case about the accident was registered in the traffic police station here.

    Zeitgeist,

Firstly, don't be a judge of an incident when u r not in a position to back your point of view...

I was there when that happened... n they were not overtaking... there was a traxx that came from the opposite direction and hit the right of the xuv... breaking the axel... look closely on the last picture... you can see the scratches on the right side of the fender on the xuv... that is damaged Cz of the first collision with the traxx... and that wasn't Cz of the xuv overtaking... it was Cz of the traxx overtaking the bus.

    Sandy,

Firstly that's not his car. He was travelling with family in a family members car.
Secondly I don't think you are in any position to account what he can afford or not.

I was there when that happened... they were not overtaking. The on coming car hit the xuv and broke the axel causing the car to go towards oncoming traffic... you see if the xuv was overtaking then,it would have gone head on...not diagonal.

Hope enforcement of traffic rules will be tightened, at least in future and enforced strictly, without fear or partiality.

Thank God, the SP is safe.

    Jess,

It is the mistake of the XUV (SPs vehicle.) See for yourself ... the vehicle is on the wrong side and as hit a oncoming bus.

Here it does not matter who caused accident. If you yourself got on the wrong side of the road to overtake its your mistake.

People who have disagreed with my comment probably dont know the traffic rules. Such type of people if driving on the roads are danger to themselves and others.
