Mangaluru: Youth held for sending sexually explicit messages to student

Daijworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 11: Relating to an incident in which obscene pictures and messages were sent to the girl student of a college through WhatsApp, and also on the allegation of pressurizing the student to engage in sexual activity with him, Kavoor police have arrested a youth and booked him under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Two other accused have managed to escape, it is learnt.

The arrested accused has been identified as Puneet Poojary (20), a resident of Moodushedde in the city. The two other accused in the case, Prathvi from Mooushedde and Vilas from the city, have been absconding.

The police have gathered information that Puneet had been sending obscene messages to the girl student since October 2016. It is said that the youth also used to send to her her own edited photographs and was urging her to get sexually involved with him. He also used to blackmail her by threatening to teach her a fitting lesson if she did not favourably respond to his overtures. Prathvi and Vilas reportedly supported his initiatives.

On the basis of the complaint filed by the victim, the police registered the case . Puneet was produced in the court while police personnel have been looking for the other two accused.

Attachment of many of the present day parents/elders to materialistic lifestyle and falling moral/family values is the main reason for this sad state of affairs.

Hope parents/elders realise this and take steps to undo the damage, before it's too late.

Hope our Administrators/Colleges/legal profession/Law enforcement agencies also take requisite steps to bring the fear of punishment into such types of potential offenders.

I will be interested to know what's the punishment these guys are given. because either they will be released without any major punishment, released with a warning or released on bail.

In all the cases it's a threat to girl and her family now. It's the fact. Only if police takes lesson to all these three, then only they will think of winding up such activities. Or else, it's a revenge time... I bet on this.
