Girl from Puttur wins gold at international science convention in Tunisia

Puttur, Jan 12: Aneesha Nayak, a tenth standard student of Sudana residential school here, who represented India at the I-FEST² international convention held at Tunisia in North Africa between January 6 and 14, has brought laurels to her school and the country by winning gold medal.

Aneesha's research paper on 'Hydrophobicity of Colocasia Esculenta leaves extract as wall paper protector' that was presented at the I-FEST² won her this rare honour.

As many as 50 young researchers from various countries had taken part in this event. Aneesha's research on the above subject had won prizes at the national and international level science conventions too in the past.

She is the first Indian to attend the fest since its commencement seven years ago.

I-FEST² is an international festival of engineering science and technology in Tunisia. The nine-day festival is hosted by ATAST, the Tunisian Association for the future of Science and Technology, open for all students and supervisors aged between 14-24, and even parents and professors.

Anisha had won bronze medal at the event held at Houston, USA in April-May 2016. She is also into sports and is one of India's youngest surfers.
