Mangaluru, Jan 12: Miscreants attacked and damaged a car parked in front of the house of a Congress leader and member of Ullal town muncipal council at Melangady here late night on Wednesday January 11.

The car belongs to district Congress spokesperson and Ullal TMC member Farooque Ullal.

The miscreants shattered the windshield and all the windows of the Swift car.

On Wednesday night, Farooque had parked his car outside his house. The incident came to light on Thursday January 12 morning when he was about to leave for Namaz.

Ullal police have registered a case.

Speaking to reporters, Farooque said, "I am not someone who harbours hatred or revenge. I do not belong to any fringe outfit. There is a group that has been troubling tourists who visit the Ullal Dargah, by demanding hafta from them. Recently, the group had barged into local shops and bakeries and demanded hafta from them and issued threats. Police need to install an outpost at the Dargah and keep a watch round the clock, so that tourists as well as locals can live in peace. I feel the same group is behind the attack on my car."
