Mangaluru: Defrauding of city based company for 1.08 crore- accused held in Mumbai

Mangaluru, Jan  13: Parvez Alhmed, who has been named as second accused in a case pertaining to  defrauding of a city-based company, Primacy Industries Ltd, stands arrested from the Mumbai airport on January 10 by the police personnel of the airport. The accused was handed over to Panambur police, and inspector, Lokesh and other personnel brought the accused to the city.

The case pertains to August 2013. Adil Sheikh from Kadri here and Parvez Ahmed from Mumbai are the two accused in the case. Adil Sheikh, who was working for Primacy Industries, had resigned in 2009 and started working at Dubai. He then, in assocication with owner of Fap World Trading Company for which he worked, contacted Primacy Industries and entered into agreement to supply 125 metric tonnes of high quality refined paraffin wax. After the company made payment of Rs 1.08 crore for the goods, the consignment arrived here in January 14. On verification, it was found that instead of wax, the parcel contained chalk powder.  Thereafter, a police complaint about the fraud was filed in Panambur station.

After initially remaining untraceable, both the accused had obtained anticipatory bail from a court here. However, both of them violated bail conditions and fled to Dubai. Adil Sheikh, who was arrested by the police at Mumbai airport on August 8, 2016, had succeeded in obtaining bail in the court here again. As the accused remained elusive and failed to appear for court proceedings thereafter, a non-bailable arrest warrant had been issued against him.

Adil Sheikh is still elusive.

Case will come up for hearing on Janauary 13.
