Udupi: MCCP spends time with special children at Manasa, Pamboor

Udupi, Jan 13: Mangalurean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP), Muscat paid a visit to Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, which is a center for the differently abled   children at Pamboor near here.  

























































































































Manasa was inaugurated by Bishop Aloysius Paul D’souza in 1997, since then with generous contributions from many donors and selfless services from members, this center has been well applauded for their perseverance to give the under- privileged children of the society a better living standard. Since these children cannot do regular academics, they are taught in various different methods by specially trained teachers. The children are given a vocational training in home science, arts and craft, phenol making, candle making and book binding. Thus leading the children in a path where they can be worthy citizens of the society.  

The present school strength is 135 children among whom 69 are residing children and the rest come from homes.  There is 48 teaching and non- teaching staff who is very dedicated to the upbringing and the well being of these children.

The programme commenced with the dignitaries from the Manasa School assembling in the school recreation hall.

Henry Menezes welcomed the MCCP members to the dais. Dilip Correa the President of MCCP addressed the gathering. Sr Ancilla Fernandes along with the other teachers conducted various games for the children. The children were very overwhelmed with the various games that were conducted.

The MCCP executive Committee members Dilip Correa-president, Lavina D’Sa-vice president Cultural, spiritual and community Services, Trecilla Menezes-internal auditor, Naveen Mascarenhas –spiritual secretary and Sachin Lobo- community services secretary, handed over the prizes to the winners and also gave away gifts to all the children present.

All the prizes and gifts were sponsored by MCCP.

Rolson Cardoza an active MCCP member also sponsored and distributed fruits to the children. A sumptuous lunch was sponsored by MCCP to all the children. Several other MCCP members also joined in for this event. All the members of MCCP were overwhelmed by the joy their visit brought into the life of the special children.

Henry Menezes, president and managing trustee,  Joseph Noronha, administrator, S. Ancilla Fernandes, principal, Sr Mary Beck-Warden were present from Manasa among others.
