Mangaluru: Brothel raided - Hi-tech prostitution racket unearthed

Mangaluru, Jan 14: Police personnel of the city crime branch (CCB), who have busted a hi-tech prostitution racket operated through a website by raiding a brothel in the city, arrested three persons. The arrested men are Preetham (30) from Manjeshwar, Sunil (22) from Gurpur, and Nagaraj (28) from Kankanady, who hails from Hanagal in Haveri district.

The police claim that the three were running a prostitution racket in the city through internet. They provided girls to the intending customers, it is said. Those who contacted the cell phone numbers mentioned in the website, party named 'woman-seeking-Men', were provided with women under this racket, it is said.

A few women too were taken into custody and handed over to women's rehabilitation centre, police stated. Eight cell phones, Rs 6,700 in cash, a Tata Safari car, and a Maruti Alto car were taken into possession. The value of assets so confiscated has been assessed at Rs 8,97,700. The accused as well as the confiscated items were handed over to Kadri police station for further investigation, it is gathered.

CCB inspector, Sunil Y Nayak, and police sub-inspector, Shyam Sundar, along with their staff, were involved with this raid.
