Bengaluru, Jan 20: An employee of a software company here ended her life by jumping down from the fifth floor of her office building on Thursday January 19.

The victim has been identified as Shobha Laxminarayan (30), working as quality analyst for Herman Connected Services Corporation.

Shobha was from Mandya, and her father had died when she was four. Her mother had brought her up, and because of her care and concern for her mother, she had opted to remain unmarried, it is said. It is learnt that there was feud within the extended family over rights on ancestral property, which had affected Shobha very much. It is believed that Shobha resorted to end her life, having been unable to handle the stress arising out of this fight.

Shobha, residing in Mahalaxmipura here, had come to office as was he routine, at about 7.30 am. She exchanged pleasantries with colleagues in the office, directly headed for the fifth floor of the building and jumped down. Her body lying in a pool of blood in parking lot was found by the security staff. Before jumping, Shobha was found to have left her identity card and cellphone over the protective wall at the terrace.

After the security staff called the ambulance, the ambulance staff arrived and found her dead. Whitefield police, who too were informed, came on the scene. Although initially the police believed it to be an accidental death, verification of CCTV footage made it clear that it was a case of suicide. The CCTV footage shows Shobha walking alone through the emergency door meant for use during fire accidents, police officials said.

A case of unnatural death was registered in Whitefield police station. Police who took up investigation, said that no suicide note was recovered, but four books over how to get rid of depression were found from he vanity bag.
