Beltangady, Jan 21: In a tragic incident, a three-and-a-half-year-old boy died after the auto rickshaw in which he was sitting plunged into a well at Charmadi here on Saturday January 21.
The deceased has been identified as Khaleel, son of Kalandar, a local.
It is learnt that the auto rickshaw was parked along a road near Mattoor temple in Charmadi. The driver had gone to bring other children from a nearby anganwady, leaving Khaleel alone in the auto. As the auto was in neutral gear, it started moving and went down the slope, straight into a well.
The locals gathered and helped in retrieving the body.
The body was shifted to Beltangady government hospital.
A case has been registered.
