Mangaluru,  Jan 23: The dignitaries and resource persons, who addressed students taking competitive examinations like IAS and IPS, advised them to work with total determination and confidence once they choose a specific career for them. They said that the students should not be disheartened by challenges, as finally, success will come their way.

They were addressing students who had gathered at the free motivational camp for competitive examinations organised on Sunday, January 22 at Bishop Jathanna Auditorium at Balmatta here under the aegis of Atmashakti Multi-purpose Cooperative Society, The Karnataka Christian Education Society, Rotary Club Mangalore, Yuvavahini, and Sarvajna IAS Academy.

In his inaugural address, Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, said that timing of the decision to appear for competitive examinations is crucial and that the students, before taking this decision, should understand why they want to take this examination. He recalled that during his period, there were no training facilities, and he succeeded after appearing for the examination thrice. He stressed that service-mindedness should be the driving factor in appearing for civil service examinations.

Puttur assistant commissioner, Raghunandan Murthy, advised the youngsters to choose IAS, IPS, KAS and such other civil service examinations only if they are service-oriented. He told them not to be unduly apprehensive about the examination, and regular studies and honing their general knowledge will be enough to pass the examinations. Probationary IAS officer, Gargi Jain, said that she had almost given up on facing competitive examinations, but determination and motivation by elders inspired her to face IAS examination and achieve her goal. Akashvani Mangaluru programme manager, Dr Sadananda Perla, felt that participation in training programmes, reading newspapers, listening to the radio and improving general knowledge would make it easier for them to face the examination.

President of Atmashakti Multi-purpose Cooperative Society, Chittaranjan Bolar, said that the society has been organising society-centric programmes regularly and that it has been providing free training to students to enable them to face competitive examinations since the last three years. He also offered the students desirous of getting training outside the state to assist them in this direction through the society.

Rotary Club vice president, Vasant Shenoy, Yuvavahini president, Sunil, and director of Sarvanja IAS Academy, Suresh M S, were present. Atmashakti Multi-purpose Cooperative Society president, Chittaranjan Bolar, welcomed.Vice president, Nemiraj P, propose the vote of thanks. Vijay Kotian compered the programme.
