Kundapur, Jan 27: The body of a woman from Kerala was found hanging from a tree standing in front of a farmhouse attached to a rubber plantation owned by Albady Jose Cherian within Belve gram panchayat limits in the taluk on Thursday January 26. The mortal remains belonged to Moli, wife of Suresh, a rubber plantation worker.

The couple, who hail from Kerala, were working in this plantation since the last few months. They were hired for undertaking rubber tapping work. It is learnt that Suresh was a liquor addict and was fully drunk on Wednesday too when he reached his home. Moli had completed preparations to visit her home at Adokkozhi near Sabarimala in Kerala. In the meanwhile, the couple fought bitterly over some issue. Some time later, Moli made a noose by using her veil and hanged herself from a mango tree.

As per information gathered, theirs was a love marriage. The couple has two daughters.

After the information was conveyed, police personnel from Shankarnarayana station arrived on the spot and conducted an inquest. Police personnel said that Suresh has confessed to having badly beaten up his wife in a drunken state. Station house officer, Sunil Kumar, took the accused into custody. A case stands registered at Shankarnarayana police station.
