Bengaluru, Jan 28: Retired IAS officer Dr Anup K Pujari has been appointed as a Special Officer of the Ambekdar School of Economics, Bengaluru, which would commence admissions from the 2017-18 academic year.

Dr Pujari holds a doctoral degree in Economics and has served in various capacities at the State and central government levels.

He had also served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Dakshina Kannada district.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the State Cabinet in Bengaluru on Saturday, Karnataka’s Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy said the institute would come up on Bangalore University’s Jnanabharathi campus and 43.35 acres has been earmarked for the institute for 99-year of lease period.

The State Cabinet approved Rs 150 crore for construction of the building. 

A corpus fund of Rs 150 crore would be created with Rs 75 crore contributions from the State Government, for maintenance of recurring expenditure, he said.

A total 30 % of seats (20 % for SCs and 10 % for STs) would be set aside for SCs and STs during admissions.
