Bengaluru, Feb 2: The state High Court on Wednesday February 2, directed a petitioner to approach anti-corruption agency Lokayukta for a complaint against the chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Police Mahasangha had submitted a petition to the High Court demanding the removal of CM from his post for transferring police officers with the recommendation of legislators and ministers. It also demanded the probe into the allegations.

Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri, who heard the petition as the judge of the single bench, delivered the order which said that the petitioner can approach Lokayukta with the complaint.

“Lokayukta has the jurisdiction over the mentioned complaint. Lokayukta can hear the matters relating to the duties discharged by the chief minister and the directions and approvals given by the chief minister as per section 7 (1) of Lokayukta Act. Section 9 of the same Act also allows Lokayukta to accept complaints on the activities of the chief minister. Hence the petitioner can submit the complaint to Lokayukta with relevant documents. Lokayukta will act on the complaint after studying the complaint and verifying the documents.” read the order in part.
