Udupi, Feb 6: Laxman Naik (32), a resident of Hebbarbettu in Nancharu village in the taluk, drowned in river when fishing on Sunday February 5.

Laxman, a traditional fisherman, had approached River Sita near his home with a net for conducting fishing.  He did not come back for long. The family members, who went looking for him, found his clothes on the riverbank. During further search, they found his lifeless body.

As Laxman was epileptic, it is guessed that he would have suffered seizures when engaged in fishing activity, and thereby he would have accidentally drowned in river. A report about this incident was filed in Kota police station.
