Mangaluru, Feb 9: There is no dearth of talent in coastal Karnataka. Many of the top artists in coastalwood have come from Yakshagana and dramas. Sai Krishna in one among them.
Sai Krishna is a multifaceted artist known for his acting, lyrics, direction, dialogues and scripts. His timing and punchlines is something to watch out for.
Hailing from Mangaluru, Sai Krishna is the son of Seetharam and Geetha. He was very much interested in theatre and stage activities at a very young age. At the tender age of 5, Sai Krishna made his debut with the Tulu drama 'Illadha Thudar' under the direction of D Shantaram. He came into limelight for his acting skills in another drama 'Kanakana Kana' under the direction of Navneeth Kadri.
Sai Krishna actively participated in dramas where he got the chance to train himself under renowned drama and coastalwood actor Devadas Kapikad. His career received a shot in the arm when he joined 'Cha Parka' drama troupe of Devadas Kapikad in 1992. Sai Krishna has performed in over 150 dramas with over 5000 shows across the country and abroad. His title role in Tulu drama 'Babu' directed by Devadas Kapikad is still afresh in the audience's memory.
The talented artist was conferred the Tulu Sahitya Academy award for his drama as director 'Balime'. Sai Krishna entered the film industry with the internationally-acclaimed Tulu film 'Suddha' in 2005. Well-known director Girish Kasaravalli then roped in Sai Krishna for 'Gulabi Talkies'. Sai Krishna also directed telefilm 'Jokulatige' which was well received in Mumbai and Dubai as well. The phenomenal actor is also part of Yakshagana programmes.
Sai Krishna made his Sandalwood directorial debut with 'Challa Pilli' in 2013 starring Vijay Raghavendra and Aishwarya Naag. The film became a run away hit. It ran over 150 days across Karnataka. Sai Krishna then directed Tulu film 'Soombe'. He has also acted in films like 'Thelikeda Bolli', 'Kanchilda Baale' and 'Amet Asal Eemet Kusal'. He had written the dialogues and lyrics for 'Dombarata' last year. He turned producer with the hit Tulu film 'Kudla Cafe'.
Sai Krishna is currently busy with his next directorial venture 'Gosmari Family'. He will also be seen in a supporting role in 'Ambar Caterers' and few other Tulu films.
