Adele's 'emotional' tribute to George Michael

Los Angeles, Feb 13 (IANS): An emotional Adele stopped mid-performance at the 59th annual Grammy Awards during her tribute to late singer George Michael, apologised and restarted "Fastlove" saying she cannot "mess this up".

Adele, who kick-started the annual gala, returned on stage to pay a tribute to Michael who died on December 25, 2016 at the age of 53.

While performing the slowed-down version of Michael's single she paused and asked the band to re-start the tune.

"I'm sorry for swearing and I'm sorry for starting again. Can we please start it again? I'm sorry, I can't mess this up for him," Adele said before starting off again.

Adele looked emotional throughout, but after the mess, the audience gave a standing ovation for her efforts.

Adele started the annual awards gala by performing her single "Hello".

The award show, honouring the best of music around the world, is taking place at the Staples Centre here.
