Suriya lends voice for 'Ghazi' for free

Chennai, Feb 13 (IANS): Actor Suriya didn't take money for lending his voice for the Tamil version of forthcoming multi-lingual war drama "Ghazi", a lesser known story about the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi submarine during the India-Pakistan 1971 war.

"Suriya's voice-over comes for about a minute at the beginning of the film. When he heard the story, he liked it so much that he decided to lend his voice for free. He considered it a privilege to be associated with a film like 'Ghazi'," a source from the film unit told IANS.

Megastars Amitabh Bachchan and actor Chiranjeevi have lent their voices for the same portion in the Hindi and Telugu versions of "Ghazi".

A new trailer of Tamil version of "Ghazi" featuring Suriya's voice was unveiled on Monday.

Sharing the trailer on his Twitter page, actor Rana Daggubati wrote: "Suriya, can't thank you enough for this. Thank you consistently supporting new cinema."

Rana plays Lt. Commander Arjun Varma in the film, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Kay Kay Menon and Atul Kulkarni.

In reply to Rana's tweet, Suriya said: "Always proud of what you do. Loved what I saw of 'Ghazi'."

Directed by Sankalp, "Ghazi" is slated for release on Friday and it is produced by PVP Cinema and Matinee Entertainment.
