Sinead apologises for claiming Hall gave Prince drugs

London, Feb 23 (IANS): Singer Sinead OConnor has apologised to comedian Arsenio Hall for claiming he gave Prince drugs and insinuating that Hall had something to do with the music legends death.

The 50-year-old retracted her claims and apologised in a statement on Wednesday, reports people.com.

She wrote: "I apologise for my Facebook posts about Arsenio Hall to the extent that anyone thought I was accusing him of acting as Prince's drug dealer and supplying him with illegal hard drugs, or insinuating that Arsenio had something to do with Prince's death."

"I sincerely apologise because those statements would be false, and I retract them unequivocally," she added.

Following Prince's death in April last year, Sinead posted a series of controversial allegations on Facebook claiming that Hall had supplied Prince with drugs over the years.

Hall was quick to deny her claims at the time and filed a $5 million libel lawsuit against her.

Hall's lawyers will be dismissing the lawsuit in the light of her apology.
