Pankaj Udhas to perform at Ghazal Symphony in Mumbai

Mumbai, March 1 (IANS): Veteran ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas will perform at the forthcoming festival The Ghazal Symphony here.

Other artistes performing are Anurag Sharma, Deepak Pandit and Anwesshaa.

The festival will be held at Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium, Sion here on March 25, read a statement issued on behalf of the organisers.

The event is curated and organised by Perfect Harmony Productions. The evening will also feature a live orchestra accompanying the ghazal performances.

The concert promises to evoke nostalgia with a performance by Anurag and Anwesshaa in the first half.

The second half of the concert will see Udhas rendering some of the popular ghazals along with a symphony orchestra arranged and conducted by noted violinist Deepak Pandit.

A Padma Shri awardee, Udhas hit the jackpot with "Chitthi aayee hai" in the movie "Naam" in 1986. He also sang hit non-film ghazals like "Aap jinke kareeb hote hain", "Aur aahista kijiye baatein", "Chandi jaisa rang hai tera", "Deewaron se milkar", "Dekh ke tumko kya hota hai" and "Ghungroo toot gaye".
