Venkatesh thrilled about singing debut

Chennai, Mar 6 (IANS): Actor Venkatesh, who has made his singing debut for the first time in three decades in upcoming Telugu sports drama "Guru", says he enjoyed the experience even though he doubted his own capability initially.

Venkatesh has made his singing debut with the song "Jingidi" in Santhosh Narayanan's music.

In the song's making video, released on Monday, he said: "I have been acting for 30 years and I wondered why I should sing now. But when I heard the tune, I was so hooked that I decided that I should sing anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed the process."

In the film, Venkatesh plays a washed-up boxing coach who finds a champion in a fish vendor.

"Guru" is a remake of Madhavan-starrer "Saala Khadoos", and it's directed by Sudha Kongara who helmed the original as well.

Kick-boxer-turned-actress Ritika Singh plays the lead in the film.
