Varalaxmi exits 'Aakasha Mittai' after 'crass' treatment

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (IANS): Actress Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar has walked out of upcoming Malayalam film "Aakasha Mittai" after being faced with crass treatment from the films production side.

The film is the Malayalam remake of last year's Tamil sleeper hit "Appa".

On Tuesday, Varalaxmi tweeted: "Thank you Samuthirakani sir and Jayaram sir for having supported my decision. I can't work with male chauvinists and mannerless producers."

When IANS caught up with her at the second edition of IIFA Utsavam 2017, she said that she didn't like the "crass" treatment of the makers.

"I don't want to comment on the issue. I just didn't get along with the producers. The way they were handling things was very crass," she said.

Actor-filmmaker Samuthirakani, who helmed the Tamil version, is directing the Malayalam version as well.

On the career front, Varalaxmi awaits the release of Tamil action-thriller "Vikram Vedha".
