Dust Haze Misery in Bahrain

Gulf Daily News

MANAMA, Mar 15: Strong north-westerly winds over eastern Saudi Arabia resulted in extremely hazy conditions over Bahrain since early yesterday.

Visibility at the airport was reduced to 1,000m during late afternoon, meteorological officials said.

Winds with speed of up to 30kmph were reported most of the day but increased to around 40kmph by late evening.

A Coastguard source said a general warning has been issued to fishermen not to venture into sea unless absolutely necessary. The UAE has warned motorists that a sandstorm would make driving hazardous during the weekend.
