Udupi, Apr 15: The stage is all set for a musical battle with ‘Voice of Karavali-2017’ to be held on Sunday, April 16 at Holy Family church, Brahmavar premises.
As many as 11 singers will strive hard to give an excellent performance to bag the titles 'Voice of Karavali - 2017', based on judges' selection, and 'People's Choice Singer', based on audience votes. Each of these titles comprises Rs 15,000 cash prize and attractive trophies.
The programme organised by Rotary Club, Brahmavar in association with 'The Expressions' and 'Being Social' will begin at 6:00 pm.
‘Voice of Karavali’ is a great platform for budding singers to showcase their potential. Three explosive rounds of the competition has witnessed many striking moments. As many as 120 singers from Bengaluru, Bellary, Sagar, Shivmogga, and Udupi took part in the first round. The second round saw 90 singers giving a tough fight to each other. Now, the final eleven are busy honing their skills and will chase their dream the grand finale.
The top 11 feature Mahalaxmi Kamat Barkur, Akash Hebbar Udupi, Shama Salikere, Praveen D’souza Petri, Vishwatha Bhat Udupi, Vinush Bharadhwaj Thekkatte, Pallavi Udupi, Rajath Mayya Ujire, Rajeshwari Prakash Karje, Shreesha Bhat and Vijayalaxmi.
Singer Vijay Shankar of Bhava Beladingalu, P Kalinga Rao Pratishtana, Bengaluru; creative writer and music director, Roshan Belman and Sharadhi Patil, the winner of Saptaswara, a state level singing reality show organized by Kasturi, a Kannada TV channel and contestant of Indian Idol have been judging the competitors.
Initiator of ‘Namma Mara Namma Mane’ abhiyan and popular TV anchor, Avinash Kamath, will enthral the audience with his lively and amazing anchoring style.

Felicitation of JC Dinesh Bandhavya
‘Man of the Year' award will be conferred on JC Dinesh Bandhavya for his remarkable feat in blood donation by Rotary Brahmavar on the occasion. He has voluntarily donated blood 27 times.
He is the founder and director of Bandhavya Blood Karnataka, established in 2007. More than 2000 volunteers are working as blood donors in the group. They have ten groups in whatsapp which extends support to the needy free of cost. Every day, Bandhavya collects 10-15 units of blood and 350 units per month. Dinesh also gives financial support to the needy and has been instrumental in saving many lives. Last year, he established a shelter for poor called ‘Bandhavya Ashrayadhama'. Besides being an active blood donor, he is an actor, singer, social activist and fights for human rights. He is the president of JCI Unit Sastan.
Judges for grand finale
Three reputed personalities will judge the grand finale of Voice of Karavali’.
Seema Buthello, the winner South India Queen Miss Beautiful Eyes 2015, is part of the judges' panel. She has acted in a short film ‘Dream Girl’. Her brilliance has won her several awards including the one from Sandesha Educational and Cultural Foundation Mangaluru at 'Kalotsava’. Besides working as a host for a number of programmes, she has also worked as an anchor for a local TV channel.
Another versatile singer and Kannada music director from Udupi, Yashwanth M G Acharya, will guide the contestants. Yashwanth is recognized at the national level and has received many awards for his solo singing.
Emerging singer Sharadhi Patil from Brahmavar will grace the event as judge. She will also share her experience and give tips to the singers. She is a winner of state level singing reality show organized by Kasturi Kannada TV channel and also a contestant of Indian Idol.
About Rotary club Brahmavar, ‘The Expressions’, and ‘Being Social’
Team ‘The Expressions’ and ‘Being Social’ are organizing ‘Voice of Karavali-2017’ in association with Rotary Brahmavar. Rotary club Brahmavar was established in 1973. The club has been serving the society for the last 44 years. Rotary Brahmavar was formed for the purpose of social service and to create leadership and extend financial support to the needy.
The club is also doing the noble work of providing free mental health awareness for the poor. Current president of Rotary Brahmavar Alwyn Andrade has been working round the clock for good cause. Many socially committed activities have been done under his leadership. The club also provides financial support to students and the needy.
Founded in 1999 by youngsters, ‘The Expressions’ aims to bring out the best out of talented people of the area. The group has come a long way since then. It has secured a place of pride in the hearts of the connoisseurs of dance, music, folklore and drama by ensuring quality, variety and punctuality in their programmes.
‘The Expressions', a group of like-minded people based in Barkur consists of members irrespective of language, religion, caste and creed. It is synonymous with quality entertainment and promotion of talents, which has been its sole objective from its inception. It has advanced a good deal in the past fifteen years with path breaking cultural extravaganza beginning with 'Expressions 2000', 'Sambhram', 'Expressions 2005', 'Karaval Milan Wilfy Nite', 'The Expressions Wilson Olivera Silver Jubilee Nite', 'Tuvvi Tuvvi', 'Moagachi Aproop Ghadi' 'Expressions 2009' and comedy drama 'Konnee Samanaath' staged at Barkur, Brahmavar, Shirva, Mudarangadi and Mumbai.
The group also takes pride in being the co-organizers for two of the nine annual Kavita Fests by Kavita Trust. The overwhelming response from the audience and the staunch support of well-wishers has made 'The Expressions' stand tall.
‘Being Social’ is a very unique forum initiated by a politician as well as Mangaluru academic council member Amrith Shenoy. It is led by a very humble and young person Avinash Kamath. The ultimate purpose of this forum is to extend moral support to the needy. The forum is formed by like-minded people to serve the society with having humanity concept in mind. Nearly twenty members, who are working in different sectors, have got together to offer service for the betterment of society.
