Mangalore: 'Anveeksha - 2008' Begins at St Aloysius

Mangalore, Mar 18: “ANVEEKSHA-2008”, the National Level Technical Paper Presentation Competition organized by ELIXIR, the association of MCA students of AICS, St Aloysius College was inaugurated by Dr. Sandeep Sacheti, Director, NITK , Suratkal  at 9.30 a.m. on 18 March 2008 in Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College. Fr Francis Serrao SJ, Rector of Aloysian Institutions, Fr Denzil Lobo Sj, Director of AICS and AIBA, Mr. Santhosh Rebello, Dean, AICS, Rakesh , faculty coordinator of Anveeksha, Ziya and Ananth, the students coordinators  were on stage.





“There are a lot of opportunities for research  in Communication and Networks and this is the field which is going to see enormous challenges” said Dr. Sancheti in his inaugural address. He appreciated the work done by students in organizing the paper presentation competition  and encouraged them to scale greater heights. In his very interesting speech he highlighted how technology has developed in the recent past and networking of computers has brought in a sea of change. He opined that a lot of developments are yet to take place and that our young people have a lot of opportunities to come up in life.

Fr Denzil Lobo SJ said that  events like Anveeksha spawn ideas which are very essential for the growth of new technology. Giving examples from yester years he brought home to the participants the need of  deep learning, and stressed the need of reading books, magazines  and journals and gathering knowledge, which in the course of one’s career will enable them  to come out with innovative, new and bright ideas which would give rise to new technologies.

Fr Francis Serrao SJ, in his presidential remarks challenged the young students of IT to do something more in life than amass wealth. He asked them to show real concern towards the poor and try to educate at least some children as they prosper in life. He welcomed the delegates from other colleges to the Aloysian campus.









Rakesh Kumar, the faculty coordinator welcomed the gathering. Santhosh Rebello, the Dean introduced the chief guest and Mr Ziya proposed the vote of thanks. Twenty teams are taking part in presentations during the two days of the programme. Some of the papers presented on the first day of the competition were : Biometric fusion of multiple samples from multiple   sources, Smart library system, holographic data storage, Time table generation software, Design of a new Framework  for Artificial Intelligence algorithms and analyzing its effect on human computer interface, Genetic Algorithms, Analysis of expression profile using fuzzy Art and Image Processing for Biometric Recognition.
