There is not a country where a minority can honestly acknowlegde true parity with the majority. The more politically and socially advanced a society is, the more subtly and less overt are the disparities between the majority and the minority. India fits somewhere in the middle in this spectrum whereas it is more extreme in some east European countries and Africa.

I think its a shame for us mangaloreans to call Mangalore as a upcomming hitech city with people having this kind of mentality. Having such organized educational institutions people still acting as uneducated and uncultured.

Its a shame for us to say that we are mangaloreans. Mangalore once branded as a peacefull place now i think it has taken a first place for all these activities.

Dear Mr.Abdul Khader, cool down. unless and untill know who the culprits are dont panic. lets not make it a issue because we all have live together for years and years together, whoever is responsible for this has no religion, we should not divide further, as we do not know the reason beyond this so rather showing your finger to others suspesously we have to show to the whole world we all one and only one religion we have. during such crises we should have unity. so my request to all my brothers dont give such statement in the media nor suspect on others. we future generation should repeat should abolish the gap between minor community and major community.

It is unjustice to blame any group or organisations without having any valid proof even if it is crystal clear about the power behind such incidents. Police are helpless and cannot be blamed in evry cases coz it is imposible to give protection to each and every establishments of certain community. Since the culprits were EUNICH and were in 8 numbers, the employees would have handled them and teach them a lesson and made them understand not to do such things again.

I think this is the clear indication that Mangalore city is in fast track of growth. New occupations, as well as recently acquired wealth and education, cut across old demarcations of social status and privilege, and new groups were emerging within traditional social categories. A terrible situation has seized our Mangalore city. The situation has become so grave that it is necessary to take serious measures to eradicate an evil that no civilized country would tolerate.

It's not difficult to guess who the culprits are. These are groups who perpetually have propagated hate in the region and have no shortage of suppporters who will justify their murderous acts, even in this forum.

I wonder what would have happened if the same had occured to a memebr of the majority or a supporter of certain other organisations? The entire city would have erupted in flames, instead of being mute spectators, as in the case of this incident.

I guess the mentality of such people is clear - if you belong to a particular religion, you're house or establishment can be attacked at will (often with the connivance of authorities), and you're life has slightly lesser value.

What is this? Is there any sense? Or is the time come to have every one their own police at their respective centres either business, schools, colleges, hospitals, shops and clinics? Or should every one carry a gun, pistol or a knife for self protection? where is law and where are the law abiders? why enemity? Hindu, Muslim, Christian or any other religion, is the color of the blood different than red? It's disgusting to see such kind of pictures and scenes from our own place-Mangalore, second fast developing centre in the whole of India.

This is hooliganism. Uncalled for. Whatever be teh reason, the law enforcement authorities need to act tough, to salvage their own name spoiled during Mangalore riots. Also send a stern message to the uncivilized elements who indulge in self-promoting and socially destructive activities.
