Mangalore, Mar 26: Journalists in the city staged protest against AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi in front of Lady Hill Church Gate when his security personnel did not allow media inside the programme hall on Wednesday, March 26 afternoon.

Media persons were given special passes in advance to attend all the programmes of Rahul Gandhi on March 26 during his visit to the city. Even local Congress leaders called up press conferences more than five times prior to much-awaited visit, and invited media persons for all the programmes. But in spite of all this pre-visit publicity, media persons were not allowed for Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with fishermen.

Moreover, Special Protection Guards used physical force against the media persons to send them out from the venue. Even the local Congress leaders, who invited media persons in their earlier press conferences, helped Special Protection Guards in shooing off the media.

Immediately media persons staged protest against Rahul Gandhi in front of the Lady Hill Church Gate. Finally he convinced the protestors that he would like to speak to the fishermen in private. Therefore, he did not wish to have disturbance from the media persons and assured that he will brief the media after finishing his programme. He regretted for the inconvenience caused to the media persons.

Later he visited St Agnes College even where media was denied an entry inside.

Even these journalists have no sense that Mr.Rahul was not responsible for the event. They may be instigated by other political parties
