Dubai: Stage Set for Daiji Dubai’s 9th Anniversary
Dubai, Mar 27: Daiji Dubai, an exclusive forum for Konkani writers in the UAE is now set to celebrate their 9th Anniversary on March 28, 2008 at the Indian High school, Sheikh Rashid Auditorium.
As earlier mentioned , the much talked of Francis Fernandes Cascia's Konkani comedy 'Matharo Chorbela' will the key entertainment event.
Following tradition, a Rs 50,000 Daiji Dubai award ceremony will be an eventful part of the programme. Edi Netto, noted Konkani journalist will be the recipient of this award. However, Edi Netto being unable to travel from Mangalore for personal reasons, has requested Melwyn Rodrigues, another noted Konkani poet to receive the honour on his behalf.
Also, three konkani books will be released during the event. Veteran and popular writer Stany Nirude, Poet James and writer Ashok Dias are the authors of the three books
Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight System, Leo Rodrigues of AL Mazroui Auto Services Abu Dhabi and Michal D'Souza of Oasis Court will be the guests of honour. Sudhir Shetty of UAE Exchange will also grace the occasion.
The convener of Daiji Dubai forum, Hemacharya speaking to daijiworld said that, most of the tickets are sold and a last minute rush for the few remaining tickets is expected.
"We have never before experienced such tremendous response for any of our Diaji Dubai programmes . If we have a houseful for the show, we will create a history of sorts.” he said.
"If all goes well, we will have more than 1500 watching the show, which will be a record for any Konkani play staged in the UAE" he said.
Walter Nandalike, noted Konkani compere will be master of the ceremony.
