Udupi, May 19: Karnataka minister of fisheries, youth empowerment, sports and district incharge who travelled swiftly in the district, conducted ground breaking ceremony under Namma grama Namma raste project for 20.83 kilometres long eleven road works worth Rs 28.76 crores.
Speaking subsequently, he said that 47.37 kilometres long 26 road works worth Rs 35.2 crores have been constructed in Udupi Vidhana Sabha constituency in the last four years after he came to power. “The road work is undertaken according to the demand of local people. Excellent quality road works are completed giving priority to connecting roads and bridges. The contractors are assigned five years annual maintenance and renovation on the sixth year. Therefore the people will get the facility of excellent roads at least for ten years,” he said.
The minister conducted ground breaking ceremony for NH66 to Brahmavar horticultural centre work worth Rs 305.30 lacs, Kemmannu Jyothi Nagar to Nejar road work worth Rs 167.10 lacs, Nejar Jangamarabettu to Nidamballi Kemmannu road worth Rs 226.10 lacs, road works worth Rs 263.60 lacs, Raman Kudru to Nandan Kudru Neelavar Link road work worth Rs 214.60, Bayara Bettu to Kakkunje Gorpalli road worth Rs 184.70 lacs, Soorunte Kambalagadde Ellampalli road work worth Rs 259.50 lacs, Karje Haluvalli Hinkladi road work worth Rs 131.20 lacs, Sastavu Haluvalli Kangibettu road worth Rs 181.80 lacs, Kenjuru Nalkooru to Chapper Math Moodabettu road works worth Rs 172.70 lacs and Kalathuru Seethana to Santhekatte road works worth Rs 159.50 lacs.
The minister travelled by NURM bus for the all the ground breaking ceremonies.
Zilla panchayat member Mairmadi Sudhaker Shetty, Taluk panchayat member Dr Sunitha Nayak, Gopi K Naik, Chantaru gram panchayat president Saraswathi Nayak, KDP member Umesh Cherkadi, PMGSY project division engineer Sathish, Vijayananda Nayak, Thrineshwar, Veronika Cornelio and member of various gram panchayat were present.
