Kuwait April 4: ‘Mand Sobhann’ Gurkar Eric Ozario was felicitated and awarded the title of ‘Vishwa Konkani Karbari’ and honored with Urmal, Memento, Rs. 10000/- Cheque & fruit tray by KCWA during a function here. Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), foremost and leading Mangalorean association in Kuwait with its basic motto of ‘Educating Poor Children' regardless of religion, caste & creed is completing 20 glorious years of community service in 2008. To commemorate this great occasion and to celebrate the achievements so far, KCWA UNDER THE PRESIDENTSHIP OF Jossy Pinto Nantoor presented a Mega Cultural Event on Friday 4th April 2008 at American International School, Maidan Hawally at 5:00 pm with "Sobhann Saanz", an evening full of Variety of Songs, Jokes & Dances presented for the first time in Kuwait by Guinness record breaking fame "Mand Sobhann" troupe from Mangalore.
The Troup was lead by Mand Sobhann Gurkar Shri Eric Ozario along with Zeena Pereira (Singer), Stany Alvares (Compere M.C), Roshan D' Souza (Lead Guitar), Richard Monteiro (Key Boards), Sachin Sequeira (Drums), Umesh Iddya (Saxophones & Trumpet), Marula Nisha Gibson, Sweety Jane D' Cruz, Jeethan Nevil D' Cunha, Avil Deepak D' Cruz and Anil Suraj Spinoza
The program started at 5.00pm with welcome song followed by general welcome by Rudy. Renowned compere of Dacter Damyav TV serial fame, Stany Alvares from Mangalore was introduced as compere of the evening who compered the whole evening with his unique professional style in Konkani.
Mand Sobhann Gurkar Shri Eric Ozario along with golden voices of Konkani Rony D'Cunha, Zeena Pereira, Warren D'Souza, Joy Fernandes, Wanisha Fernandes and Ritesh Ozario entertained the audience with superhit songs like Festa Santek, Punve Chandne, Altoddicho Lok, Tujem Ghar Khaim, Sallkachi Paklli, Hanv Zanv, Vodda Ponda, Sezarnichem Sunnem, Yaad Tuji, Rozaline, Bhangara Surngara, Suryachim Kirnnam, Ye Lagim, Ganvgo Cheddva, Daina Bai, Sovlo Tuka and Shirandharicho Pavs. Music Maestro Roshan D'Souza lead the band with Richie Montheiro, Jackson D'Souza, Sachin Sequiera, Umesh Iddya, Joy Fernandes and Rithesh Ozario.
Lancy Rodrigues Cultural Secretary of KCWA along with Stevan, Anil, Renny, Nitin, Anil F, Naveen, Lucy and Rudy presented variety of rib tickling jokes which audience enjoyed a lot. "Nach Balliye" dance troupe (Nach sobhann) entertained the gathering with dazzling dances to the tune of singers.
During felicitation program, along with president Jossy Pinto, newly appointed Bishop of Bellary Fr Henry D’Souza, Fr. Melvin Mongr. John, Felix D' Souza and eric Ozario were present on the dais. President Jossy Pinto honored the main sponsor of the event Al Rathath Est (Felix D' Souza) with memento. Bishop Rev. Henry D’Souza honored the representatives of Co sponsors Sanbouk Super Market (John Fernandes),Bassem Gen Tradg Co (Charles D' Sa), Qatar Metacoats- Qatar(Felix Lobo), UN Readymix Bharthia Vidya Bhavan (Helen Mathias), Al Habshi Est (Abdulla Al Habshi) with momentos.
Eric Ozario was felicitated and awarded with the title of ‘Vishwa Konkani Karbari’ and honored with Urmal, Memento, Rs. 10000 /- Cheque and fruit tray by Bishop Henry D’Souza. All the visiting artists were honored with mementos. In return Eric spoke a few words of gratitude and expressed his sentiments to the audience.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of Baby Photo Competition, Prince-Princess, Fancy Dress, Suduku and quiz competition. Vote of thanks was delivered by Tressy. Eric ozario and Stany Alvares honored the representatives from Kuwait for ‘Nirantari’. The well organized program came to an end at 9.45 pm.
