Amitabh urges all to quit smoking


Mumbai, May 31 (IANS): Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has urged his fans to quit smoking.

Amitabh on Tuesday night tweeted: "World No Tobacco Day May 31, 2017, 'Tobacco - a threat to development.' I left smoking almost 35 years ago! Will you?"

The 74-year-old icon also wrote on his blog that smoking was injurious to health.

"Quit the habit of smoking, it is injurious to health. Aarrggh... Sounding like those adverts that come before the screening of any film," he wrote.

On work front, Amitabh, last seen on screen as Subhash Nagre in filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar 3", is prepping for his upcoming film "Thugs Of Hindostan" with superstar Aamir Khan and "102 Not Out" with veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.

'Hindi Medium' is a delight: Rishi Kapoor

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has praised the film "Hindi Medium" calling it a "delight" and has lauded the performance of actors Irrfan Khan, Saba Qamar and Deepak Dobriyal.

"Saw 'Hindi Medium'! Such a delight. Wonderfully made, written and acted. Irrfan, Saba and Deepak are so natural. Congratulations to the team," Rishi tweeted.

The movie, made on a budget of Rs 22 crore, is growing on word of mouth.

"Hindi Medium", which released on May 19, is directed by Saket Chaudhary. The film's story revolves around a couple who want to give their daughter the best education so that she will be accepted by the elite.

Rishi is now prepping for his next film "102 Not Out". He will be sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan after over two decades.

KJo sings daughter Roohi to sleep

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who just stepped into fatherhood, sings his daughter Roohi to sleep.

"'Chanda hai tu... Mera Sooraj hai tu' is my go to song for baby sleep... I even sing that to my daughter! Baby musings. Get used to it," Karan tweeted.

Karan in March announced that he became a father to twins via surrogacy. The daughter has been named Roohi - a rearrangement of Karan's mother's name Hiroo. The son has been christened Yash - on Karan's late father's name.
