Mangaluru, Jun 2: Unidentified motor bike-borne intruders who visited a house at Koikude, Pakshikere village, within the limits of Mulky police station forcibly took away ornaments worn by a woman living in the house. The incident happened in broad daylight on Thursday June 1 afternoon.

Kaveramma, wife of quarry owner, Kuppaswamy, was alone at her home in Koikude when she was robbed. 

Two men approached Kuppaswamy's house when Kaveramma was alone, and expressed their desire to speak to Kuppaswamy. As soon as she opened the door of the house, both rushed into the house, pushed Kaveramma to the ground, and stuffed clothes into her mouth. She was then led from the hall to the bedroom of her house. Her limbs were then tied with clothes before three golden chains weighing 23 sovereigns she was wearing around her neck were taken a way by force. They then pressurized Kaveramma to part with the key of the cupboard inside the house. Kaveramma said that during this melee, she injured one of the robbers in his hand by biting him hard. Kaveramma too suffered some injuries in this incident.

The robbers then sifted through the cupboard inside the bedroom for valuables and went away after finding none. When Kaveramma raised an alarm, locals rushed into her home to find that blood was oozing out of Kaveramma's mouth. They summoned a local doctor and treated her before informing the Mulky police.

Kaveramma said that the robbers were speaking in a mix of Malayalam and Tamil languages. It is suspected that this deed was the handiwork of people who knows the family and circumstances in the area well. The robbery happened a little while after Kaveramma's daughter-in-law cleaned up the house and went to her home.

Deputy commissioner of police, Sanjeev Patil, assistant commissioner of police, Rajendra, Mulky police inspector, Ananta Padmanabha, and finger print experts visited the spot and began investigation.
