Daijiworld Media Network- Chikkamagaluru (RJP)

Chikkamagaluru, Jun 4: Two dead tigers spotted separately recently in a jungle here died because of fierce territorial war between them, said forest officials.

One dead tiger was spotted on May 19 at a jungle in Hosalli near here. Another dead body was spotted in decomposed state on June 2 very near to the place where the first body was found. Now the forest officials after examining both bodies have concluded that territorial war took place between these tigers and ended in death of both.

Territorial war is common between tigers. When two tigers fight, one loses the fight and runs away from that area. The winning tiger remains in the place. But these two tigers fought till the end to lose their lives. Injury marks on their bodies, dates of death and other factors have convinced the officials that it was fierce deadly battle.

The conclusion also considered the opinion of veterinary doctor who conducted post-mortem on bodies of the dead tigers.
