Mandya, Jun 14: A man was arrested while he attempted to sell his 2-year-old baby in Srirangapatna near here on Tuesday, Jun 13.

Some alert people helped the police and members of the Child Helpline to rescue the baby girl who was being sold by her father.

The father aged 32 is a resident of Bengaluru. Some alert people came to know that he was trying to sell the baby and they informed police about it. The police acted swiftly and took the father and child into custody. The baby was placed in the care of the Child Helpline later.

The child’s father admitted that he tried to sell his daughter as he was unable to look after her. He said that he had come to Srirangapatna along with his wife and son and was accompanied by a friend and his son. But his wife eloped with his friend and took away their son but left the girl child behind.

The man confessed that he was unable to look after his daughter and planned to sell her and return to Bengaluru.

As per information available with police, the man has three wives. Two of them had deserted him earlier and the third wife left him on Monday.

As the father expressed his inability to look after the child, she was handed over to an adoption centre.

Such a coward and stupid father!if he is unable to look after his own daughter why he has to responsible for his birth? Indian Govt should impose severe punishment for child sellers and child traffickers. Its a very heinous crime. Parents doesn't know once they sell the child where the child will reach and through what difficulties that child will go. I strongly oppose this!

There should be heavy fine imposed and jail if any Indian marry more than one. If this is not followed people will marry and abandone as many as they want. He can maary three and enjoy but cant take care of one child?

This man, who seems to be worse than an animal, needs to be put permanently behind bars, where he will not be able to create further problems for innocent women and their offspring.

Yes, agree. Modi ji must resign right? We Indians were living in the cloud nine for all these years after independence and all of sudden since 2014 such things started happening.

AFTER READING THIS IT IS CLEAR THAT HE IS A WOMANIZER. IF HE CANNOT LOOK AFTER A CHILD THEN WHY HE HAS TO GIVE BIRTH TO HER?THIS MAN IS GOOD FOR NOTHING. IF HE HAD KEPT HIS WIFE HAPPY BY SATISFYING HER EVERY NEEDS INCLUDING, PHYSICAL AND SEXUAL I BET ANY WOMAN WILL NEVER EVER THINK OF RUNNING AFTER OTHER MAN.MISTAKE IS FROM MAN SIDE, BCOZ ITS HIS DUTY TO SATISFY HER NEEDS. IF HE CANNOT THEN THERE IS NO WONDER IN LISTENING SUCH INCIDENTS.
