Yoko may get songwriting credit on Lennon's 'Imagine'

New York, Jun 15 (IANS): Yoko Ono, who was married to late singer John Lennon, is expected to be given credit as co-writer of the iconic song "Imagine".

At the annual meeting of the National Music Publishers Association here on Wednesday, Yoko and Sean Ono Lennon received the organization's new Centennial Song award for the Beatles' star's legendary 1971 song "Imagine".

NMPA CEO David Israelite showed a video from 1980 wherein John said Yoko deserved a songwriting credit for "Imagine" because of her influence and inspiration. Israelite announced that Yoko's name will be added to the song as a co-writer, reports variety.com.

Israelite noted that there may be some opposition to the move at some point.
