Mangalore: City Doctor A.G.Jayakrishnan Bags A K Basu Award

Mangalore, Apr 14:Dr.A.G.Jayakrishnan, chief cardiothoracic surgeon of Omega hospital and associate prof. of cardiothoracic surgery at Fr. Mullers Medical college hospital has been awarded the A.K.Basu visiting professorship in cardiac surgery by the Indian association of cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons at its annual meeting held at Pune.
Dr Jayakrishnan has been conferred this award in recognition of his expertise in the field of beating heart bypass surgery on an all India level. He will assist in establishing centres and training surgeons in beating heart bypass surgery during his tenure.
His services have initially been requested by prof. Seetharam Bhat, professor of cardiac surgery at Sree Jayadeva Institute of cardiology, Bangalore where they will jointly hold workshops and train younger surgeons to perform this type of surgery.
