Mangalore: Illicit Spirit Worth Rs 7 Lac Seized – Accused Escape

Mangalore, Apr 15: Illicit spirit worth Rs 7 lac has been seized by DCIB inspector Rajanna and Ullal SI Shiv Prakash at Thokottu Highway here on the early hours of Tuesday April 15. However, the culprits managed to escape from the spot.

According to the police, about 8,700 litres of illicit spirit in 250 cans was being carried in a truck by two people. The total value of the spirit is estimated to be Rs 7 lacs while the cost of the truck is Rs 6 lac, totaling Rs 13 lacs.

The truck, with Tamil Nadu registeration TN 01 AK 3542 was going towards Kerala.

    Excellent suggestion by Mr. S. Chandra. . Several other such trucks may have already passed !! Who knows. !? Its only tricks of Mafias including law enforcing agencies.

    The spirit and the truck should be auctioned and the proceed to be utilized for students mid-day meal in the govt. schools
