Dubai, Apr 17: Girish Karnad’s Popular Kannada play “Hayavadana”  directed by Prakash Rao Payyar will be staged in Indian Consulate Auditorium,  Dubai on June 20, 2008, Friday at 5.30pm
 
Hayavadana is one of the playwright’s most performed plays. It is story of Kapila  and Devadatta- is based on a tale from Somadeva’s “Vetalapnchavimshika”, but also draws on Thomas Mann’s reworking of the tale in “ The Transposed Heads”. Interwoven into the main plot is the story of Hayavadana- a horse- headed man whose quest for wholeness underscores the play’s exploration of identity and reality. “Hayavadana” has been translated and staged not only in the Indian languages; it has been staged across the world  in different languages since last four decades. Now it is UAE Kannadiga’s turn to enjoy the play.
