Mangaluru, Jun 25: After a long stretch of reduced activity, monsoon gained in strength in coastal Karnataka on Saturday June 24. The general climate in the coast, which had become hotter since some days, has cooled down.

Sullia taluk in particular recorded heavy rainfall. Heavy rain was also reported from Puttur, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Suratkal etc since morning. Puttur also got some rain.

A few houses were damaged due to fallen trees. Rainfall was marked by brief intervals at Kundapur and Karkala. Kasargod district got heavy rainfall, recording 41 mm during 24 hours. Reports of various houses getting partial or total damage were received by the district administration. Due to the rainfall, water which had got stranded at various places since the last some days, in turn supporting mosquito breeding, got washed away on Saturday.

As per the predictions of the meteorological department, most parts of he coast and some areas in inland are likely to get normal rainfall. Some areas in the coast might also get heavy rainfall. This prediction is valid till Monday morning.
