'Coco' to premiere at Mexico's Morelia Fest

Los Angeles, Jul 6 (IANS): Pixar's latest animated picture "Coco", which narrates story of an aspiring musician Miguels journey into the land of the dead, will have its world premiere in Morelia, Mexico.

Morelia is famous for its Day of the Dead celebrations.

The movie is set to open the Morelia International Film Festival on October 20, several weeks ahead of Day of the Dead festivities, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

Among the voice talent in the Mexico-set "Coco" is Benjamin Bratt, Gael Garcia Bernal, whose touring documentary film festival Ambulante collaborates with the Morelia Film Festival, Edward James Olmos and Alanna Ubach.

Lee Unkrich has co-directed and co-wrote "Coco" with Adrian Molina. The filmmakers visited the city of Morelia to do research for the film.

"‘Coco' is the first Pixar movie inspired by the lovely people, the beautiful traditions and the culture of Mexico, so we are honored to have the opportunity to launch it there first," said Molina.

Morelia International Film Festival is set to run from October 20-29.
