Mangaluru, Jul 8: In yet another incident of stabbing, a youth was attacked by two men at Kuthar here on the night of Saturday July 8.
Chiranjeevi (24) was attacked by a group of unidentified persons at Amblamogaru near Kuthar.
It is learnt that Chiranjeevi was riding home after a workout in the gym when three persons, one of whom was wearing a helmet, on a black Pulsar bike came behind him and attacked him twice on the head with swords. The assailants then fled the spot.
Sources said that he was attacked at a deserted spot at Majalthota. Thereafter, with no one around to help, Chiranjeevi himself rode his bike towards Kuthar and collapsed. His friends then admitted him in the hospital
Chiranjeevi is said to be an RSS activist, but others said he belongs to Bajrang Dal. However, yet another source claimed that he did not belong to any right-wing outfit or organization, and that he was attacked simply because his bike had a sticker with a God's name.
Tense atmosphere prevailed at the spot following the attack.
A person known to Chiranjeevi said that a black Scorpio with weapons in it was seen in the vicinity since evening, and expressed suspicion that the persons in the Scorpio may be involved in the crime.
Some months ago, RSS activist Rammohan was attacked at this same spot. It is suspected that the persons who attacked him may be involved in this case too.
Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP, ACP and Ullal police personnel visited the crime spot as well as the hospital.
Hospital sources said that Chiranjeevi is out of danger.
Ullal police are investigating.
