Mangaluru: BJP to boycott peace meet, stage strong protest on Jul 13

Daijiworld media network - Mangaluru(EP)

Mangaluru, Jul 12: The district BJP has announced that it would boycotte the peace meeting being held by the district administration on Thursday July 13.

In a letter addressed to the district deputy commissioner, BJP MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik stated the party is dissatisfied with the way the district administration and the government have handled the situation during the last two months of communal unrest.

Commenting on the proposed peace meet, he stated the unpleasant incidents have continued despite Section 144 that has been in force in the district for the last 48 days.

Further, he stated, "Deadly incidents of stabbing, assaults, murder etc have been taking place in the district during the last few weeks. Though section 144 was in force, unrest has continued. If the administration had held a peace meet in the beginning, the district's image would not have gotten tarnished in the country."

He also accused that the list of invitees for the peace meet shows 'biased' approach of the ruling Congress. "We cannot understand the basis for their selection. We could see that Section 144 was not implemented properly. The district administration and the police failed in controlling the unrest. The failure to arrest the culprits in several incidents has caused anxiety among Hindus.

"Though allowing the general public to conduct business as usual despite Section 144 is welcome, the continuous enforcement of the restrictions has raised questions of its very purpose. The Constitution of India has provided freedom to hold meeting and programmes, collect opinions, express opposition, protest against injustice but the district administration has curtailed that freedom for 48 days. The district administration has failed to take elected representatives and public leaders into confidence. The police without search warrants and any records entered houses using force when only women and children were in the houses. This has caused undue fear among people," he said.

"As the district administration has failed despite enforcing Section 144 for 48 days, the district administration and police are directly responsible for the present situation. Their failure to invite elected representatives or public leaders at least for courtesy to take them into confidence is condemnable. As they have failed to arrest the suspects inviting a few people for peace meeting will not serve any purpose. Therefore, we boycott the meeting being held after undue delay," concluded the letter.

Ramanath Rai interfering in police work: Nalin Kumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (EP)

"District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and the state government are directly responsible for the unpleasant incidents that have taken place in some parts of the district in the last two months," said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Speaking in a press meet held at the BJP office here on Wednesday, July 12, he said that the Congress state government has failed to control the unpleasant incidents in the state. "The situation was pleasant during the BJP rule. Caste based unrests have increased during the rule of Congress government," he said.

"Several murder cases in the district have not yet been solved. Though the police department showed inclination to maintain law and order, the district in-charge minister and the state government have not given them conducive atmosphere for it. The minister is interfering in the work of police department," he alleged.

"I have discussed with union minister Rajnath Singh for investigations by NIA regarding unpleasant incidents that occurred in the district," he said.

"Protests will be held on Thursday, July 13 in Mangaluru opposing attempts by the state government to suppress the Sangh Parivar. Former chief minister and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa and other leaders will participate in it," he said.

Former MLA Yogish Bhat, Monappa Bhandary and BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandoor were present.

Udupi: Bantwal unrest all due to Congress' conspiracies - Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (AR)

District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde on Wednesday, July 12 alleged that the present situation in Bantwal is due to the political conspiracy of minister U T Khader and also that Karopady gram panchayat vice-president Jaleel Karopady was murdered by the Congress members.

Addressing mediapersons at BJP town office Kadiyali, he said, "There is insecurity in Dakshina Kannada from the past 45 days. This is all due to the enmity between two groups of Congress for the position of president and vice-president of Karopady gram panchayat. District in-charge Ramanath Rai could not tolerate the rise of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), as they have been trying to identify themselves as a political party in neighbouring states like Kerala. Rai played politics to save Congress's place."

"On June 13, two persons pelted stones at buses. There was no involvement of Hindu or Muslim associations. Next day, SDPI took advantage of it and brought Kalladka to standstill. They destroyed the shops and buildings of Hindus. Case was registered against Mithun, Amin and Akshit. SDPI is behind this," he alleged.

Hegde further said, "Hindu Jagarana Vedike district president Ratnakar Shetty was attacked by SDPI. On the same day Pavan was attacked by four people. Both are hospitalized. The criminals are still not arrested. Pavan has named four people who had attacked him. But, they are still not arrested."

"Even if there was no involvement of any Hindu associations in SDPI leader Ashraf's murder, some were named as they shared the stage with Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat in the past. Was Section 144 not imposed during the funeral procession of Ashraf? There was stone pelting that time too. Why no case against them for violating section 144?" he questioned.

'Police not arresting accused'

"Sharath Madivala was just a member of RSS. he was not involved in any incident. He was mudered by four people. Even though the police have hints of the accused, they are not arresting them. BJP, Hindu associations and RSS were planning to hold a protest at B C Road on June 24. But police stopped it," said Hegde.

"Miscreants pelted stones at the procession taking Sharath's mortal remains. Stones were pelted by people from Masjid and other buildings. Cases were registered against Satyajith Suratkal, Harish Punja and Sharan Pumpwell who are innocent. A team of 50 to 100 policemen raided their home in the night. There were only women in the house and no lady officer was present in the team. This shows the terrorism act of Congress. There trying to supress the power of Hindu associations," alleged Hegde.

"BJP leaders have given a list of 38 names, who are involved in Ashraf Kalayi murder case. But no action has been taken against them. At least they could have filed an FIR. However, a complaint has been filed against MP Shobha Karandlaje, MP Nalin Kumar and Hareesh in violation of prohibitory orders," he said.

Protest on July 13

"Innocent people have been arrested. Ramanath Rai is trying to break the unity of Hindu associations. BJP, Bajrang Dal, ABVP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad are going to hold protest on July 13 condemning the murder of Sharat Madivala. In order to supporting the protest, a massive bike rally has been organised from Ayyappa temple in Udupi. Followed by the rally, a public protest meeting will be held at Jatka bus stand in Udupi. There will be protest in Mangaluru too. BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje will take part in the protest," he informed.

Stay order on JNNURM

"There is no relation between private buses and BJP. The main objective is to avoid problems from government buses. It is also about the matter of private employees’ jobs. Rajavarma Ballal, president of Canara Bus Association, himself is a member of the Congress party. District-in charge Pramod Madhwaraj is responsible for all the problems taking place between private and government buses. The ruling party members are dragging my name here simply," said former MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Araga Jnanendra, Yashpal Suvarna, Prabhakar Poojary, Baikady Suprasad Shetty, Shivakumar Amablpadya and others were present.

Voters of this constituency seriously need to do some retrospective which they are continuesly electing since 1991 for 25 years. Otherwise it won't be too late CM Yogi is going to be future of Mangalore.

This peace meet should have been done earlier by state govt & District Administration. Having said that, boycotting the peace meet by Opposition party also shows that how keen these two parties care about people. All political parties/leaders want controversy and make politics out of these issues. People should realize this and stop fighting in the name of religion and based on political parties. Jai Hind.

All the communal goondas and moral police must be booked under goonda act and make them tadipaar irrespective of religion. People from all the religion in DK-Udupi want to live peacefully. Nalini came back from Russia early just to break the law and order!

It is very obvious that, these trouble mongers don't want peace in the district. If there is peace, they don't have any agenda to face upcoming assembly election. If there is disharmony around, they can easily brainwash innocent voters and get more votes! They want more and more riots among different communities for political gain!!

Sad part is State Govt is only issuing warning and not taking action against these anti-social elements & Central Govt is acting dumb. Even if Home Rajnut is asked to involve in restoring the Law and order here... he will just to "Khadi Ninda" from his Delhi office!!!
